| Tinker & Petey's Big Adventure |
| July 20 |
| Destination: | San Francisco and Santa Clara |
| The Plan: | Drive back into the city in search of more cheesy photos, then back to Santa Clara for a cookout |
| What we did: | I'm pretty confident that we will stick to our plan... Well...we didn't. It was an R&R day today. Spent much of the day on the couch. We're at a point in the trip where you start to get bogged down. Did some reading. Played with Tinker and Petey. Checked out some stuff on the internet. Drove around parts of Sunnyvale. LOW IMPACT TOURISM! Tom Utic drove up from Felton for a cookout Terry was having for a couple of friends that are moving to Washington, DC. All was going fine...great food. Tom did a good job grilling the salmon. Now, in California, there aren't alot of bugs like the midwest. Everybody leaves doors open. I think that is pretty cool, because Tinker and Petey can come and go as they please in the house and yard. Terry is a "bunny parent"...that is she is not used to dogs who get into anything that they can get into. And this is where Petey comes in. Our dinner and conversation carried on till after dark. From my chair, I noticed the backyard motion detector would turn on and then go off every now and then. Looking around and seeing Tinker and no Petey, I figured Petey was out exploring Terry's backyard. No problem, right?! Fenced in yard, nothing dangerous laying around, etc. After a while, I started getting suspicious. It isn't like Petey to stay away for any length of time. So after counting noses...one dog still missing...I went to find out what the little guy was up to. Well Terry, unaccustomed to the shennanigans that dogs can pull, had put the tin foil with all of the salmon juices from the grill, on the ground. Innocent enough! I found the tin foil all over the back deck...a very fishy stinky smelly Petey looking up at me as if saying: "What, I'm not doing anything wrong. It was just sitting on the deck." Petey smelled like a big old fish with fur, covered head to toe with salmon juice. He was one stinky dog. So back into the bath tub with Petey...and 10 minutes later...a squeaky clean dog. Well, Pete, at least you gave me something to write about on an otherwise uneventful day. |
