Tinker & Petey's Big Adventure
July 19
Destination: San Francisco, Santa Clara
The Plan: Maybe visit San Fran, take some cheesy tourist pictures of Tinker and Petey and then hook up with my friend Terry Jansen and hang in Santa Clara! Take 2.
What we did: Yay!!!! Made it to Santa Clara, via San Francisco!

Took our time packing up and getting ready to leave Tom's house in the woods for the city life of Santa Clara. We took off in search of the Seagate facilities in Scotts Valley, CA...but once again, I must've been talking to the dogs...cuz I did miss it. The facility is supposed to be right by the highway. Oops.

Off to San Francisco. We drove to the Golden Gate Bridge, looking for a good place for some pictures. We did find the secluded road that Tom told us about...and snapped a few pictures. The first picture shows the bridge covered partially by fog. The next picture shows the pooches with the bridge background. Tinker and Petey are being such wonderful sports...posing for cheesy tourist pictures. I'll have to give them each a couple of extra milkbones tomorrow!

Next we went in search of Alamo Park...across the street from the row houses we've all seen on TV. I can't remember which show was set there. Finally found the park and saw that some of the houses are being repaired...and realized that we weren't going to get a good picture.

Driving a bit more...headed over to China Town. Was going to do some souvenir shopping...but couldn't find a parking spot...so we just drove around. The Expedition climbs hills well, even when not in 4WD...and we climbed some very steep hills. It is amazing how some of the cars are parked on such steep roads. I'll try to get pictures of this tomorrow as we head back into the city.

Next we took a vote (2 for, 0 against, 1 not present) and agreed to look for the highway to head over to Santa Clara. Tinker was crashed at the time of the vote. We got onto Geary St. and headed west...thinking I would find Hwy 1. Either I was talking to the dogs AGAIN or it wasn't clearly marked...but for whatever reason, I missed the turn. Continued west till we hit the Ocean Beach area and we were treated with a wonderful view of the coast with waves breaking towards shore.

So...we parked and walked up the hill...FOR MORE CHEESY TOURIST PHOTOS! A couple of pictures with the dogs are shown below. Tourist duty completed...we voted (3 yes, 0 no) to head to Santa Clara before the rushhour kicked in.

Stopped at Terry's office...hoping to catch her there. No Terry...she was off to a ballroom dancing lesson. So we went in search of her house. Finally connected by phone...found the house and since we couldn't get in...crashed in the truck while waiting for her to get home.

Short snooze later...I awoke to TJ knockin' on my window. It was really good to see her again. She made it back for Buks and Lori's wedding last September...but I didn't have much time to chat...Smitty and I were in charge of Crowd Control...and had a lot of work to do.

We chatted for about an hour and a half...then headed out for dinner at Harry's Hoffbrau. What a great restaurant! We had dinner with a ballroom dancing friend of Terry's, Freda. An hour of dining and conversation...and back we came to watch a movie. True to form...Terry decided to crash. And of course, by now you all know where I went...off to update the web site!

I hope that for all of you who have dogs and travel...have dogs that travel as well as Tinker and Petey. They make this trip very easy.
