| The Plan: | Hang out with T...see a bit of the San Diego Area night life (that means beer drinking!) |
| What we did: | We took it easy in the morning. Prepped Tinker and Petey for one
of the few days I would not be spending with them. A couple of milk bone bribes and all was well. Got over to T's house around noonish...I haven't seen Tom in a number of years...and it was good to see him. Took a quick picture with him...and the front of his house. Tom and his WIFE Diane have a beautiful home in Encinitas. You can see the front below. Also got a picture of one of his neighbors' house...somebody familiar to most Minnesotans and golfers all over. As far as I know, all of people living in his neighborhood have Tom as a first name. I was in total relax/no expectations mode...so we drove around. Down to Coronado...past the Navy Seal Confidence Course...over to the Star of India tall ship. Tom has done a lot of sailing, including a cruise on a tall ship. The Star of India is a popular attraction in San Diego. Had lunch in the San Diego's Gaslamp District at Dick's Last Resort. This is a fun bar...every year they celebrate Elvis's Birthday with a bevy of Elvis impersonators. I have heard this is so fun, I'm taking a golf weekend trip to SD in January for the event (Dave Murray, get that on your calendar)! Drove around some more...went to a collectibles store that Tom thought I would like. I did...however Tom felt a need to buy a LARGE fiberglass dinosaur (from a Sinclair Gas Station) for his back yard. Well, at least I felt he should feel the need to buy that dinosaur. I was unable to persuade him to make the purchase. Got back to the house...finally got to see Tiffany again. I met Tiffany many years ago when she was a little girl...I had bought a 6 foot blow up Gumby...that we took to the beach, a party, Fenway park for a RedSox game, etc...I have pictures taken of Tiffany with Gumby...13 years ago. Tiffany will be 20 in November! Happy Birthday Tiffany (in Nov.)!!!! Next we were off to see a bit of the night life in Carlsbad. Funny...any of the GB Packer gang that travelled to San Diego last October (including myself) already sampled the night life of Carlsbad. In fact, we went to Coyote's Bar and Grille... scene of the Great Margarita Debacle last Oct. It really is a fun place...and tonight was Karoake Nite. No, we didn't get up and sing. Diane took us over to the "Texas Liquor" store...to look for interesting tequilas. I'm starting to collect different tequilas. Diane had taken another tequila connoisseur (Brian Nadeau) to the same place. Brian was one of the East Coast Gang...back in New Hampshire. Picked up some based on "the expert" (a Greek immigrant) behind the counter. That was enough excitement...went back to T's house...talked politics for a bit...and crashed. |
