| Destination: | San Diego, CA |
| The Plan: | Get an oil change for the Savage Beast and then head down to Mesa, AZ to pick up my niece Chasity Brown. Then we'll head over the Chas's parent's house in San Diego...just in time for the baptism on Sunday. |
| What we did: | We didn't get up early!
That is at 5:00 AM Central Time. The morning was overcast...so it seemed to be easy to sleep
in...that is until the rain started! I quickly broke camp...the tent I have is AWESOME...breaks
down in a hurry (sets up fast too!)...so nothing got very wet at all! Spent a little time
downloading the pics from the previous day's adventure at the G.C...and then it was off to Flagstaff
to get the first of maybe 3 on-the-road oil changes. Gotta take care of the Savage Beast! Got some directions to the Jiffy Lube...and it turned out the exit ramp was closed...and it took some time to figure out how to get back to where I wanted to go. All expected in a days work for the Road Warriors. Got the oil change...and we were off to pick up my niece Chasity Brown in Mesa, AZ It was very interesting to see the landscape and flora change as we made our way to Mesa. The trip was uneventful...until we came to ANOTHER CLOSED EXIT RAMP. But once again, the Road Warriors were not fazed, and they took a tour of Phoenix. We doubled back and eventually made our way back to Mesa. Picked up Chasity at her new apartment...and off we were again! No rest for the weary Road Warriors! Did a little desert drive-by site-seeing...snapped a pic of an AZ dust storm. The rest of the trip to San Diego was uneventful...until we arrived at a locked house. Chas broke in and we ended our trip for the evening. The dogs got to meet the David Brown San Diego Menagerie...2 dogs, 3 cats and a rat. Big time excitement for the Minnesota Fuzzballs. Cashed it in and slept well in Gavin's breezy bedroom. Oh yeah...Once we made San Diego, we successfuly made our only scheduled stop for the month of July. The road trip was officially pronounced....A RESOUNDING SUCCESS! |
